"I would like to thank Jenny for her incredible work with our four-year-old daughter. Six months ago, she was limited to a vocabulary of about 5 words. She would struggle to express herself using sounds and gestures. We arranged for therapy sessions with Jenny once every two weeks for an hour, as suggested. Inbetween sessions we would complete structured homework tasks.
With every additional session we were seeing progress. I was initially sceptical about the use of Makaton sign language as I was worried she would become overly reliant on signs instead of verbalising. However, it proved to be a very useful tool, allowing our daughter to combine words and sign language, thus relieving her stress and frustration with communication. This eased the transition to her using full sentences.
Once she had come out with the word for something she would promptly stop using the hand sign. The rate of improvement has been nothing short of stunning.
