I offer 5 main Speech and Language Therapy Services, plus a number of FREE Resources.
1. Assessment & report
1. Assessment & report
The initial assessment will start with a conversation on the phone about your concerns. I then provide neurodiversity affirming speech, language, social communiction evaluation through:
A pre-assessment questionnaire
A face-to-face visit to observe, listen and play with your child to critically analyse their abilities
Discussion with you and your child about their speech and language development
Verbal feedback and advice that foster communication growth, regulation, strengths and self-advocacy skills.
Assessment length usually lasts around 60 minutes.
I will then discuss with you whether I believe further assessment is required to understand your child in more detail, and what further support I would recommend in the form of therapy, coaching and/or training for the wider team.
Should a written report be required, this will be tailored to your specific requirements. The level of detail and length of time required will also be discussed, along with the fee in advance of the assessment.
There is no obligation to take up further services.
If, after an initial Assessment, we jointly agree that your child will benefit from further speech and language services, one-to-one therapy sessions can be booked.
Therapy can be booked in blocks of 4-6 sessions and always reviewed after each block.
Therapy is evidence-based, tailored to your child’s strengths and interests. Some areas of focus include:
Communcation of regulatory needs
Building language through Analytical or Gestalt language processing
Therapy length is typically 30-60 minutes including discussion of therapy and activities to work on between sessions.
For therapy to be effective and successful, your child will need every opportunity to practice between sessions.
For both parents and professionals.
We will work closely together using video, discussion and play in the natural context of your own home or quiet room in an education setting over a course of 4-6 visits.
I will help you better understand your child’s communication needs, diagnosis and support you to grow your interaction skills.
I will also coach you through using the best strategies with your child, and be there at each step to guide you through the process.
4. AAC support
4. AAC support
Following assessment of your child's needs, we may decide together to trial Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) to support his or her communication needs.
I will recommend both low tech and high tech AAC together with personalising the AAC to your child's specifications. This can be through editing software or produce Communication boards, books, symbols and visuals. This will be agreed and can be used as part of the child's overall therapy or as a stand-alone service.
AAC support can also be in the form of skilling-up key staff in school, nursery and respite settings to provide confidence in using AAC.
Additionally, I can help to trouble shoot difficulties in a particular AAC system, look over Individual Education Plans and support in optimising communication.
5. General support & training
5. General support & Training
Support is available in a variety of forms for you, the parents/carers, or staff to develop a deeper and clearer understanding of how to engage with your child/young adult.
This support may take the form of attending meetings, liaising with individuals or training small groups of individuals to implement the AAC strategies.
My fees vary, depending on what combination of the above services you choose, and the time you require.
The price and the time will be discussed and agreed with clients during our initial FREE, no-obligation consultation.
